About the Event and Cause

Anthony Nolan is a UK charity that works in the areas of leukaemia and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. It manages and recruits donors to the Anthony Nolan Register, which is part of an aligned registry that also includes the Welsh Bone Marrow Donor Registry, and the National Blood Service ran British Bone Marrow Registry. This aligned register is known as the Anthony Nolan & NHS Stem Cell Registry. It also carries out research to help make bone marrow transplants more effective.

Is in the overflow area adjacent to the main car park. As you enter the overflow area you will be asked for a parking fee of £2 and be given the final details. On that sheet you must put the registration number of your car and hand it in at race registration. We have to prepare a spreadsheet of all the regn numbers for the use of Grizedale and they will ensure that your reg. number is removed from the APNR system and thus avoid your being sent a non-payment charge. In the event of very bad weather we will use Bogle Crag to the South and the adjacent forest road for parking. Bogle Crag is 1km South of Registration. There is an off road walking route from Bogle Crag but this meanders its way through the wood adjacent to the road. If you walk on the road please be careful as cars and bicycles are frequent and often too fast. On your way to Bogle Crag you might wish to drop off family/friends at the main car park. We are informed that if you enter the Car Park and leave within 10 minutes the APNR system will cancel your number plate.

This is at the Yan Centre which is on the East side of the road at the top of the Car Park. At registration there will be notices with the details for the race and also an Entry List in alphabetic order. Please check this and raise any queries at Registration. Bags can be left, at your risk, under the overhanging roof adjacent to the Registration window or of course taken to the start/finish area. There is no dry cover at the Start/Finish. At registration you will receive your race number and commemorative gym towel.

This will be signed but is on the West side of the road down the track to the forest gate. This year the start will be at the Cattle Grid at the top of the forest road into the forest. The finish will be in the walled area of the Visitor Centre adjacent to the childrens’ play area and Go Ape office. At the end of the race as you leave the forest you will cross the cattle grid (BE CAREFUL) where you started and run down the track, through the gate at the bottom and into the walled area. A total of around 500 mts from the cattle grid.

Please keep within the funnel to ensure we have your number and time. At the end of the funnel you will receive a bottle of water and a biscuit bar.

COURSE All on forestry roads, wide and with a reasonable surface. From time to time there will have been large timber lorries and machinery on the roads. They may have caused rutting in places. Be careful!

REFRESHMENTS After the race on presentation of your race number at the visitor centre café you will receive a 15% discount on your purchases for you and your family. This offer is only available for one complete purchase and your race number will be retained by the café.
